Join Yoga Alliance Continuing Education Provider and 500 E-RYT, Devon Sweeney, to learn the art of teaching universal and accessible Yin yoga, connecting to the intelligent flow of healing the body through the relationship between stillness, breath and tension release. Devon’s synthesis based approach to the practice and teaching of Yin yoga honors and moves beyond the classical perspective, honoring new paradigms of modern behavioral psychology, classical and tantric yoga and pranayama, movement therapies, and neurological/physiological stress management techniques.
TEACHERS WILL BE GUIDED TO:
~ Explore an energetic approach to Yin yoga, from the classical Taoist perspective as well as from the yogic subtle body understanding inspired by Tantra and the Lunar Arts School of Prana Vinyasa Yoga.
~ Explore and learn to teach classical Yin asanas and modern variations of postures to fit a variety of practitioner needs. Teachers will be equipped to cue postures and educate students safely.
~ Learn subtle hands on enhancements and deep hands on assists with massage techniques to support your students in the practice of stillness
~ Ground your teaching in the use of props, modifications, and other creative methods of physical reinforcement during the practice
~ Learn principles of functional anatomy, tension, compression, muscular and fascial release in asana. Understand the positive physiological effects of Yin Yoga on the fascia, connective tissue and joint health
~ Reflect upon and learn to develop the inner and outer body cueing necessary to give students greater access to physical, emotional, and mental release. This set of techniques will incorporate visualization, imagery, and metaphor to enhance somatic accessibility and kinesthetic awareness.
~Integrate deep, meditative breath work and pranayama into the inner art of Yin yoga
~ Write deeply transformative yin sequences from an anatomical and energetic perspective
~Learn the art of facilitating meditation within asana, and use lighting, music, and vocal range to cultivate ‘bhavana’ or ‘feeling-states’ of regeneration, clarification, balance and healing within yin practices.
